The rule is strict: as long as you have a checker on the bar, you must re-enter it before playing anything else. No other checker can move.
Your checker enters through your opponent's home board: points 19 to 24. The link with dice is simple: a die of 1 → point 24, a 2 → point 23, a 3 → point 22, and so on up to 6 → point 19.
