Backgammon Circle

Cookie Policy

Last updated: August 24, 2026

1. Purpose of This Policy

This policy informs users of the backgammoncircle.com website (hereinafter the "Site") about the use of cookies and other trackers that may be stored or read on their device (computer, tablet, smartphone) while browsing.

It supplements the Backgammon Circle Privacy Policy, which describes in general terms the personal data processing carried out via the Site.

2. Who Is Responsible for the Cookies Stored on the Site?

Cookies may be stored:

  • by Backgammon Circle, as publisher of the Site;
  • and, where applicable, by certain technical providers acting on our behalf (host, audience measurement provider, advertising provider).

Information about the data controller and the recipients of the data is provided in our Privacy Policy.

3. What Is a Cookie / Tracker?

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. It allows the site to recognize your device for the duration of the cookie's validity, record information about your browsing or your preferences, and in some cases identify your device.

The term "tracker" covers more broadly other technologies than cookies (for example certain scripts, pixels, software-generated identifiers or information stored locally by the browser), used for similar purposes.

4. What Types of Cookies Do We Use?

Cookies strictly necessary for the operation of the Site. These cookies are essential to allow you to browse the Site, use its core features and ensure its security. In particular, they maintain your session when you are logged into your player account, remember your technical choices (display language, theme) and remember your cookie choices. These cookies are exempt from consent in accordance with Article 82 of the French Data Protection Act and the CNIL's recommendations.

Audience measurement cookies and trackers. These trackers measure the Site's traffic and usage (pages viewed, number of visits, journeys) in order to improve its operation and ergonomics. The Site uses two mechanisms:

  • Vercel Analytics: aggregated audience measurement without cookies or persistent individual identifiers — exempt from consent;
  • PostHog (data hosted in the European Union): more detailed usage statistics, relying on cookies — stored only with your consent.

Advertising cookies (conversion measurement). The Site uses the Google Ads tag (gtag) to measure the effectiveness of its own advertising campaigns (conversion). These trackers are stored only with your consent. The Site does not use any third-party advertising targeting cookies or cookies stored by social networks for marketing profiling purposes.

6. How Do We Collect Your Consent?

Where cookies or trackers that are not strictly necessary for the operation of the Site may be stored (PostHog audience measurement, Google Ads advertising measurement), your prior consent is required.

This consent is collected via a cookie management banner that appears on your first visit to the Site, allowing you to:

  • accept all cookies;
  • refuse all cookies subject to consent;
  • or customize your choices by purpose (audience measurement, advertising).

No non-exempt cookie is stored until you have expressed a choice, and refusing is as simple as accepting, in accordance with the CNIL's recommendations. Closing the banner without taking action does not constitute consent.

You can change your choices at any time by clicking the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of the Site, or via the button at the top of this page. Your choice is kept for 6 months, after which you will be asked again.

7. How to Manage Cookies from Your Browser?

You can also configure your browser to:

  • accept or refuse all cookies;
  • be informed when a cookie is stored;
  • regularly delete cookies from your device.

Each browser's configuration is different. It is generally described in your browser's help menu.

Please note: configuring cookies directly from your browser may affect your access to certain Site services and limit certain features (for example saving your preferences or maintaining your session).

8. Updates to This Policy

This policy may be updated, in particular to take into account regulatory, technical or functional changes to the Site. In the event of a substantial change, we will inform you by an appropriate means and/or on your next visit. The date of the last update appears at the top of this document.
